First, there is no control over rent increases on units built after 2018. Second, a huge percentage of units are now owned by “investors” whose first priority is is short term profits. These are fixable issues, so I assume that the political class are happy with this situation. Blame your local politician/landlord.

If BOC continues using metrics like rent and mortgage interest, we will never get to 2% unless they BK half of Canada. The need to be right causing un necessary pain- half of Canadians are paycheck to paycheck . This is disastrous to the hard working ppl of Canada and an injustice to those subject to deciding whether to pay bills or eat. Interestingly enough, the last time this happened was in 1981. Who was PM then? Color the rest. Yes it’s a global issue. Some worse than others. Taxes to the hilt are not helping the situation at all.

We know we are being lied to.
