All this despite a massive splurge of borrowing that has Ottawa paying over $40 billion a year in debt interest alone, while provinces like BC now join the Ontario debt wagon with debt interest running at over $4 billion a year.

And then there’s income. A measly 0.8% annual rise in per capita income over the last decade, which now puts per capita Canadian income on par with places like Alabama, while the median incomes of cities like Toronto and Vancouver have fallen behind cities like Oklahoma City and Birmingham, Alabama.

What an absolutely appalling state of affairs for a country blessed with natural resources and an open border with the world’s biggest economy. We even have a defense premium thanks to the US, with Ottawa saving $20 billion a year buy not having to fund a military at the same level as Australia.

Just appalling. And that’s even before addressing soaring violent crime, imploding schools and utterly whacky ideological cults forming around things like gender and Indigenous matters.
