“First Time Buyers Were The Largest Group Of Buyers
Vancouver’s resale inventory is largely being sold to first time buyers. They were the largest single-segment of the survey, representing 32.2% of buyers over the past year. The second largest type of buyer was people moving into a similar type of property, which represented 18.9% of buyers. Surprisingly domestic investors came in third, accounting for 18.5% of transactions. Since we know you’re curious, foreign investors represented 2.3% of purchases. If that last number seems a little low, keep in mind that REBGV doesn’t involve any new construction.”
Really? First time buyers – 32% and only 2.3% foreign investors? Do they expect us to believe this? Almost choked on my coffee reading this…… Lol

I am 31 years old and I busted ass in a full time job and saved up enough for a down payment by applying a strong work ethic and being disciplined in my finances. To get out of the rental life I now own a home I was only able to afford due to interest rates being low and by buying jointly with my significant other. As a highly leveraged first time buyer who plans to live in my own home I would like to see interest rates stay low. I am not interested in seeing my home prices become more ‘affordable’ since that means losing a large amount of equity. I think there are others in my same boat. It’s harder now than ever, but it can be done.
