Developers also kick in money to sycophantic politicians. I think this all began on January 1st, 1996 when the province switched to Market value assessments. We are paying tomorrow's prices today...

In reply to RW. Politicians and bankers keep telling us it's a supply issue but when 25% of homes are being bought by speculators doing exactly what you're describing in Ontario, the problem is clearly not a supply issue. It's nice to have numbers to debunk the "lack of supply" storyline.

It’s all exaggerated by real estate people ( investors,brokers,agents..) that caused the price over rated. Ordinary Canadians are the ones who suffering, while these thug making billions , first them blamed the Chinese, now no Chinese come, they blaming short supply, while thousands houses sit empty,no tenants…

It is not a myth. Lots of people are hoarding multiple properties under their names, their relatives names and number companies. The provincial should learn to limit property ownership and levy heavy tax for owning extra properties.
